NUFENEN mountain pass in Switzerland

Loading

NUFENEN mountain pass (2.478 meters a.s.l.) in Switzerland, yes, we drove over again. It is such a beautiful pass. The way up, from Airolo, is 24 kilometres long with an ascent of 1.337 meters, when going down again, In the direction of Ulrichen, it’s just 14 kilometres and has a descent of 1.132 meters, which is steeper on average. At the summit, we enjoyed the goulash (originally gulyás) soup just as much as last time, and the weather was fantastic, too. There is also a little souvenir shop. The summit is also the border of the two cantons Ticino and Wallis. This mountain pass is normally open for 4,5 to 5 months, from June to October, so planning is essential if you want to experience the highest mountain inside Switzerland. On the way up, we saw the Wallis Black Nose Sheep again, by the waterfall. They are so cute. By the way, it is possible to stay overnight in a self-sufficient camper on the parking lot by the little lake. When driving down, we remembered to stop by the small cheese dairy and shopped for some delicious mountain cheese.
We also made a stop by the Kitt suspension bridge, crossing the Ägere river where there is a small waterfall.
