SIMPLON mountain pass in Switzerland 2024

SIMPLON mountain pass in Switzerland is an easily accessible area with fabulous views in all directions. The mountain pass is normally open year-round and is 2.009 meters high.

At least coming from the Swiss side, it is a wide country road. For those driving up there in a camper, there are plenty of options for an overnight stay. As long as the spot is chosen where traffic or residents are not obstructed, and you keep the place tidy, you can more or less stay anywhere. There is a visitor’s tax to be paid, this can be done online or at the tourist office in Simplon Dorf.

We found a place on the old abandoned road, with great views of the surrounding mountains. There were also other campers on the road, the atmosphere was hyggelig and quiet at night. Here’s a little tip from our side: If you like good cheese, visit the little dairy in Simplon Dorf (village). They have cheese, milk, yoghurt and butter. In the village, there is also a church, several restaurants and hotels.
