Todtnau
TODTNAU WATERFALL is just one hour drive from Basel, plus a 10 minute easy hike on an almost flat forest road. It is one of the highest waterfalls in the Black Forest, 97 meters in total over 4-5 steps. The amount of water is very much depending on the season β so is the number of visitors, about 500000 per year, meaning a visit on a grey day might give a better picture after allΒ π. Benches allows for a rest and perhaps lay down and enjoy the sound of the splashing water β great meditation.
Passing the bridge over the stream and following the lower path back through the forest, with some steps and bridges, is a good alternative to the initial trail. In general there a many hiking options in the area, most of them fairly steep.
From the waterfall there is also a great view over the valley to Todtnau, where a spectacular toboggan run, almost 3 kilometres long, is located; great funΒ π
