Swiss Army Knife
BRUNNEN, a lakeside town set on the banks of the Urner Lake and Lake Lucerne, is a great starting point if you are interested in Swiss history, including a visit to the Swiss Knife Valley Visitor Center.
But also for scenic and historical boat rides by the nostalgic paddle steam boats. Our last trip was just a short ride to Treib for a late brunch on a sunny Saturday, perfect for sitting outside at Wirtshaus zur Treib. The view from the terrace by the lake, to the mountains and the ever arriving and departing ferries, is spectacular. From Treib it is also possible to visit Seelisberg by a funicular railway from 1916.
Not far from Brunnen, in Ibach-Schwyz, is the factory of perhaps the World’s most known knives, VICTORINOX. Producing knives since 1884 they sure know how to do it right. A hint; in the factory-outlet you will get a 10 % discount on your favorite knives! We have really no idea about the number of Victorinox knives we, and our visiting families and friends, have bought there 🙂.
