France, part three – Le Mont-Saint-Michel, Poul’s 97 years old ex-father-in-law and Venise Verte
We left Cave Tronquay late in the morning. After doing some shopping for groceries for the next 2-3 days, and filling up diesel, we arrived at the Mont-Saint-Michel area. As this is a major tourist attraction in this part of France, road signs showing the direction started far far away. When we got closer we suddenly saw the dramatic silhouette from far away. Le Mont-Saint-Michel,…

3.700 kilometers motor home roundtrip in France – filled with food, wine, and much more.
Part one – Champagne. We began our journey Friday morning, from Switzerland, heading for Champagne, priorities must be in place for good planning. Despite the fact we have a rough master plan for our tour (see the map) the idea is to finetune the details for the first 4-5 days and then continue this one or two days ahead during the trip. We will continue…

Unterstammheim – home of Swiss hop growers
UNTERSTAMMHEIM is a small Swiss village with just about 900 citizens. We visited Unterstammheim to find out a bit about hop growing in Switzerland. We were in the right area for this, hops have been grown here since the 1930s. And if that isn’t enough, wine and tobacco are also grown here. We stayed at Hopfengut, they have recently opened for stays for motorhomes and…

Come along with us on a long weekend trip to Dent de Jaman, Chillon Castle, Pissevache, Montreux Riviera, Vevey, and the vineyards around Yvorne. An interesting list of sights, and we managed to experience it all during just a long weekend due to good planning. An exciting train trip from Montreux brought us to the foot of the mountain Dent de Jaman where the cozy…

Fanø, island in Denmark
Fanø is a small island in the Danish Wadden Sea, just over one kilometer from Esbjerg on the mainland. A trip to Fanø takes 12 minutes by the ferry, so Fanø is very popular for day trips. But also among owners and tenants of the 2500 summer houses on the island. There are only three villages with Nordby as the largest. We went to Fanø…

Hiking along Klöntalersee – Switzerland
Spring is coming, we are looking forward to getting out and together again, for example for a picnic and barbecue. Here is a great place to start: LAKE KLÖNTAL, Klöntalersee, is a just 5-kilometer long alp lake, almost surrounded by mountains. The area around the lake is well-known among hikers and everyone else who just wants to relax and perhaps enjoy a picnic with a…

Geograhical center of Switzerland
ÄLGGIALP is where the geographical center of Switzerland is located. A very tranquil, silent, and absolutely beautiful place with just some 15-20 houses in the relatively flat area, including the most picturesque little 200 years old chapel, a mountain restaurant, and a farm with a cheese dairy making the most delicious alp cheese which can be bought directly from the shelves for a very fair…

Recipe – Risalamande! 😀
Risalamande, not sure about an English name for this dish, rice pudding perhaps? Probably the most well-known Christmas dessert in Denmark, and certainly our favourite. Here you get the BEST recipe: Ingredients for the first steps (make this the day before the final step): 238 g porridge rice (rissotto rice or in Germany Milchreis is good too), 3-4 dl water x 3, 1 liter full-cream milk…
